Is the Hipstamatic Back Story Real?

Lalitree asked whether the back story of the Hipstamatic 100 (iPhone app was real), and while I couldn’t find anything out searching obits and the like, I decided to submit to Snopes. They know EVERYTHING. Here’s what I submitted as my question:

Is the story printed on the Hipstamatic page true? That the iPhone app was inspired by a real camera that was designed by two brothers who were killed by drunk drivers before they could get the thing into production?

Or is that just a back story to make the thing seem cooler than it really is?
